Iris and Frank were married at Scripps Seaside Forum this past September.  I had the privilege of working with them for the year leading up to their wedding.  From the very beginning, we knew we were designing an event that would incorporate both Iris’s modern whimsy AND Frank’s traditional sophistication.  Beyond a beautiful wedding, Frank and Iris wanted to create a warm atmosphere that would share who they are with their friends and family.  From the bold colors and spherical shapes to the customized puzzle and sprinkles cupcakes, their wedding was as playful as it was elegant.  Congratulations Frank and Iris!

We hope you enjoy the snapshot of their day!

Thank you to Tim Otto Photography for the images.

One of the main reasons Frank and Iris selected Scripps Seaside Forum as their venue was for the  panoramic views which we did not want to obstruct with a traditional altar.  Rather, Jennifer Cole Florals created a white petal path including the circle altar of petals.  Large silver lanterns framed the aisle and were accented with yellow and white pomander balls.  The bride and groom personalized the content of their ceremony booklet which guests took home.

The custom dance floor took center stage with guest tables surrounding it.  Midnight blue Isabella lines draped each of the tables in a decadent rosette appliqué.  The room itself was flanked in a sheer white backdrop allowing the complimentary colors to pop.

Guests were treated to a “Peach Whellini” during the reception followed by a Sprinkle’s cupcake with a carton of milk.  Their patterned cake was topped with a pair of penguins.  You would have had to have been a guest to understand why but Iris did share the story!

As the sun went down, the room took on an entirely new atmosphere as each of the centerpieces glowed with a soft blue light.  Accent lighting softened the room what the custom capiz shell chandelier adorned the patio.  Come the end of the evening, Frank and Iris were swept away in a vintage 1956 Rolls Royce.  A perfect end to a perfect day!

“Dear Liz,

Thank you so much for making our dream wedding come true!  The day was amazing, unforgettable and so smooth.  We both had an incredible time and still reminisce about all of the little details.  Our family and friends had endless compliments, many of which were that it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to.  It was truly a spectacular day!  We really enjoyed working with you all the way through.  You were always cheerful and made us laugh while reassuring us that everything would come together…  and it did!  Thank you for being patient with us.  I’m so happy we were both involved in the planning because it was an experience all on it’s own.  It definitely would not have been so enjoyable if we had not worked with you.  Thank You!

Love, Iris and Frank”

I apologize my delayed start to the blog in 2012.  Thanks for waiting for me!  We are cruising right along in a year that is already moving and shaking.  We have many exciting things lined up here at LBE that are rolling out in the upcoming weeks and months.  I thought I would use my first post of the year to tell a little about some of the things I am looking forward to in 2012.

Cheers 2012!

1. “EVENTing the iPad” at The Special Event: The Special Event is the largest international event industry convention in the world and this year it will be in Tampa, Florida.  I have the great honor to teach a classroom session incorporating the iPad into the event industry.   Sara France of Sara France Photography and I are collaborating on a presentation for  small business owners in the event industry on how to advance their efficiency and productivity by integrating the iPad into their daily work flow.  Those who know me know that I LOVE my iPad and use it for everything I can. It has truly transformed my company and I am so excited to share my experience with others.

2. Destination:   This year we have a growing number of traveling couples bringing their guests out to one of the top wedding destination cities, San Diego!  Our destination couples are often looking for coordinating events and activities to engage their family and friends before and after the big day.  Once I get to know my couples, I love working with them to customize their entire experience in San Diego.  It truly is the Finest City and I’m proud to share it.

We not only have destination weddings coming to San Diego, we are also traveling more this year.  Working with my San Diego couples that are planning a destination wedding outside of Southern California is such a treat.  New venues and new cities inspire me!

3. Website Revive:  Everyone has been busy at work dusting off the old and bringing in the new on the LBE Website and the Bustle Blog.  It has taken a lot of time (as it always does) but I am starting to fall in love with it and I am excited to share it with you.

4. New Spaces and Place: We have been spending a lot of time sourcing new venues for ceremonies, receptions and intimate parties.  A lot of these locations are very unique and offer a new perspective on the standard setting.  The Bustle Blog will keep you posted on our findings…

5. Tangerine Tango: According to Pantone, the color of the year is Tangerine Tango and I love it!  This perfect blend of red and yellow is associated with warmth, excitement and fun times.  Sounds like a wedding to me.

6. Gowns:  Catherine’s gown brought a new meaning to princess last year at the Royal wedding.   We are starting to see a lot of lace as well as many variations of the neckline and sleeve length.  For those of you Twilight fans, I have to say that I fell in love with Bella’s Carolina Herrera gown (shown above) which also dons long sleeves.  Both examples show that a modest gown can still be very sexy!

There are far more things to share but that is what the Bustle Blog is for.  In the meantime, we are almost finished gathering images from our 2011 weddings which we will be posting soon.

Happy 2012…  Can’t wait to see what is in store!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

LETTERPRESS…  That one word makes me smile!  There is nothing quite like the texture and elegance of the oldest printing process on the planet, especially when it is combined with fabulous design.  In researching letterpress options, we ventured upon smock. and immediately fell in love with their product and passion for the art of letterpress.  They have an incredible line of exquisite wedding stationery including invitations and save the dates but being as I am in FULL Holiday mode, I wanted to share some of their everyday line.

Sumptuous stationery is the perfect stocking stuffer or hostess gift for the holidays.  I love receiving them almost as much as sending them.

One of our favorite bridal salons, The White Flower,  recently expanded to launch The Bridesmaid Boutique .  Not only do our brides get personalized attention but now their bridesmaids get the VIP treatment as well.  The boutique caterers to one wedding party at a time to ensure the individualized service that The White Flower is known for.

One of the things I always suggest to my brides and grooms is to make an event out of anything you can while engaged.  What better opportunity than shopping for their dresses?  Follow it up with a little specialty cocktail tasting to find the perfect libation for your wedding day and you have a fun filled day planned with the girls.

The White Flower and The Bridesmaid Boutique is by appointment only to ensure a personalized service.  Make sure that you call to schedule an appointment.

I am staying as far away from the malls as possible today but that does not mean I am not onboard for a fantastic deal.  So here it is, Liz Beck Events is offering a  25% discount on our FULL SERVICE PLANNING PACKAGES for today only.  No, I don’t expect you to book your wedding planner without meeting them and getting to know their style and personality before you hire them.  That would just be silly.

You simply have to contact me today via email or leave a comment on the blog and mention that you are interested.  We can schedule a time to talk or meet at the studio to discuss the details of your wedding when you are available but your 25% OFF will be documented as long as I receive communication from you today.

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!

Remember the days when you received letters in your actual mailbox (not your inbox)?  The real pony express of stamps and envelopes? Well if you are a fan of that, you are going to love this as much as I do.  The most unique postal finding since the self adhesive envelope… the World’s Smallest Post Service by by Leaf Cutter Designs.  Talk about making a huge statement in a tiny package!

Save The Dates

Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

Sweet Nothings

Happy Anniversary

or just because it is Cool!

It may seem a little gimmicky at first but if you are looking to grab someone’s attention, sometimes smaller is better.  I would be excited to open this regardless of what it has to say (unless it came from a bill collector but the packaging would still make me smile!).  Think of all of the creative ways to use this tiny post as Save the Dates, Rehearsal Dinner Invites or Wedding Party Inclusions.  It would make a pretty fabulous proposal as well if you used a filler ring.

Test is out and put a smile on someone’s face.  Remember the last time you received a letter in the mail just because someone was thinking of you?

It is hard to believe we are looking back on our 2011 wedding season already.  The good news is that we have been fortunate to work with some truly lovely couples  and I am honored to have been part of their wedding days and the months leading up to them.  I am in the process of creating a post for each but I could not help but to share some images.

This is just a sneak peek of some of the wedding from this past season.

Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks to see more details from the weddings of 2011.
