Desiree and Cory were married at a gorgeous private estate in La Jolla overlooking the Pacific Ocean on August 21st. We have a lot of images to share but thought we would start with a little glimpse into their Midsummer Night’s Dream wedding.
Thanks to Bob at True Photography for the images.
Smitten is getting sassy this week… The lovely ladies of Boudoir Divas spent some time telling us more about what they do and why they love it. Now, who couldn’t be smitten with that?
What is your favorite part of the industry?
“Making women feel drop dead gorgeous. We absolutely love seeing their reactions when we show them their photos for the first time!”
If you weren’t in the event industry, what would you be doing?
“Hmmmm….. tough one. I would probably be a teacher or work at a ranch. I love kids and animals. In that order of course.”
Where do you draw your inspiration? Are their specific resources?
“W Magazine is probably our biggest source of inspiration. We also love traveling, that seems to spark our creativity like nothing else. We are pretty addicted to going to Paris. Our next boudoir photography workshop will be held in a villa in Jamaica and we are going to mesh those two influences. Couture meets Sport Illustrated!”
What is one piece of advice you would give a bride?
“First we would say just knowing that things aren’t going to be perfect on the big day, but it is more about embracing this celebration by having fun with friends and family and letting the little things slide. Next, we might be biased, but a super sexy groom’s gift!!! Imagine how excited he would be if he opened an album with sexy, classy, gorgeous photos of you just hours before he says “I do!”
What are some of the trends you see for 2010 and 2011?
“We are crazy about vintage couture details! Maybe broaches in the hair, or a vintage garter, or if it’s a winter wedding swap out the bouquet for a vintage muff (hand warmer). I love watching old Marilyn Monroe movies for ideas.”
Thank you for sharing ladies!
Happy Weekending Everyone…

Dear Miss O, we love your magazine here at LBE and we are excited to share your picks for new fall fragrances. Warm and intoxicating, these bouquets are sure to please…
Friday Five- Fragrance of Fall
1. Jo Malone- This fragrance was inspired by the John Keats poem, “To Autumn.” For those Jo Malone perfume disciples who favour the fruity and sensual scent of Pomegranate Noir, this new cologne might strike a similar note of pleasure and could be considered by many as one of the best new fragrances of 2010.
2. Play For Her- Talk about brilliant packaging… Play for Her is a surprising and bold fragrance that radiates its unusual alchemy, combining the floral notes of the tiare flower and the warm accords of amyris wood to create a voluptuously flowered fragrance with woody tones. Imagining a woman who is naturally seductive and ready for life’s surprises, Givenchy’s perfumers created this sparkling composition to astonish and captivate.
3. Miss Pucci- Youthful, fresh, and seductive, miss Pucci is undeniably modern while opening a window to the retro Pucci lifestyle of vibrant color, perpetual motion, and sun-soaked destinations. The perfume rests on a magnolia and rose accord and is described as a sparkling musky-floral.
4. Bliss- The fragrant composition is developed by Cecile Hua, promoting and providing good mood with a fresh mixture of bright bergamot, dewy cucumber and vivid flowers, such as lilies, violet and ylang-ylang. This unique blend is light enough to be your signature perfume that you wear on special occasions.
5. Twirl- It’s been eight years since Kate Spade’s first fragrance, Kate Spade. Twirl is a younger and more playful scent full of fruity floral, sweet with mandarin, pink watermelon, white peach and red currant and blackberry at the top. Jasmine, magnolia, orange blossom and tiare are the heart; musk, amber and patisserie-inspired French macaron make up the base.
While living in NYC, one of my favorite places to shop for unique glassware was Fishs Eddy. Lately I’ve been missing the store so much I’ve been frequenting the website and thought I’d share the fun with all our blog friends. The store carries everything from fine china, basic vintage and retro-inspired flatware, heavy crockery bowls, and classic restaurant-supply glassware. So if you’re ever in New York City be sure to stop by the 19th and Broadway location….it’s browse heaven! Until then check out their website. They also have a wedding registry that is perfect for the kitchen lover. Happy Shopping!
We are loving this unique DIY bouquet idea!
Step 1. Scavenge antique shops, thrift stores, your local Anthropologie, as well as craft stores for a collection of knobs that are just your taste.
Step 2. Acquire lace, fabric and trims to adorn the stem & circumference of your bouquet.
Step 3. Be sure to have a Styrofoam cone, scissors, fabric glue as well as a mini glue gun on hand!
Step 4. You are going to want to cover the flat surface of your cone with some thin fabric. Draw the circumference on the fabric. This fabric must be thin because you will later press the knob through this—lace is ideal!
Step 5. Glue the thin fabric you’ve cut around the cone.
Step 6. Now with new thicker fabric of your choice alternate ruffling and gluing all around the cone. You can choose to go around the cone twice with ruffles for a fuller effect!
Step 7. Wind ribbon around the cone starting three quarters of the way down from the tip.
Step 8. Decorate with additional patterned fabric of your taste!
Step 9. Begin to push knobs through the lace and Styrofoam. You can secure the knobs into the Styrofoam by adding a small dollop of hot glue.
Step 10. Voila’ your own cabinet knob bouquet is created!
Thanks to Simply Bloom and 100 Layer Cake for sharing this adorable project!
