Etsy has always been my favorite source for unique, handmade goodies but now that they have an actual wedding section, I am more in love than ever. There are so many talented designers creating original items for all of us to find. Etsy has offered my couples the ability to source original pieces that speak to them and share their story with all of their friends and family.
As you know, there is no possible way one could feature ALL favorite Etsy Shops in one post. That would be nearly impossible! So, today I am sticking with three. Check them out below.
The classic charm and modern style of Belle and the Beau captured my interest with their bold patterns in their Beau accessories! There is also a fantastically romantic and whimsical Belle section of their shop which offers “shoe pretties,” and other adorable accouterments for the ladies.
Sometimes a name says it all and that is certainly true in this case! A Southern Bucket has taken their passion for burlap and metal to create customized and functional buckets and vases. They will not only be a conversation piece at the wedding but they will also find a permanent place in your home.
Let be be the first to tell you if you already didn’t know… Once you get married, the line between mine and yours becomes very thin. The least we can do is identify our own silverware! We had the great honor of co-hosting the Association of Bridal Consultant’s (ABC) Favorite Things Event on Wednesday evening at the one and only Prado in Balboa Park! I am working through sharing the featured apps, ideas, locations and products that I am most excited about. There were so many to select from. What’s a girl to do?
I was introduced to a company called, Ivory Sparrow which is right here in our backyard of San Diego. They customize the most decadent and heavenly wraps and robes for the pampering that comes before the merry occasions. I had the opportunity to introduce them and actually feel the softness of their fabrics and I am telling you ladies, it is amazing! Not only that but the packaging and presentation makes the perfect gift for your bridesmaids, moms, flower girls and even your groom. While you are at it, let’s not forget your wedding planner! Did I mention that they can be personalized?
They also offer Swarovski embellished flip flops packaged in a satin bag as well as two different options for a coordinating cotton totes. We are in love with Reem Acra’s interpretation of the traditional veil. It is so sheer over the skin and skims the floor so eloquently. All of this and it won’t stick to your lipstick or tangle in your eye lashes. GENIUS! For all of you ladies that want the length and drama of a veil without the actual hair accessory, this could be your answer.

A Guide to Summertime Formal Attire
Trousers- Tropical wools or high end cotton weaves should be the fabrics you look for in a good pair of summer dress trousers.
Dress Shirt- Most men know to select cotton, but few realize the fabric make-up is only a part of the equation for staying cool. Search for weaves and weights that allow cotton to do what you want it to do – transmit the moisture and heat from your body right out to your surrounding environment.
Handkerchief – It’s not just for your nose, and the handkerchief does a much better job of cleaning off sweat than your shirt sleeve.
Stylish and Functional Hats- Panamas, Straw Fedoras, Tilleys, and Linen Caps are great options available and made from plant fibers and woven in a way that they can block light, retain their shape, and allow airflow.

The 2012 Award Season gave us a bit of a bridal runway on the red carpet. Soft neutral shades were styled from Sleek and Slender to Sexy and Sultry and everything in between. Every year, we look forward to seeing how red carpet fashion will be translated into bridal couture. The creamy whites and muted blush designs of 2012 may just be a literal rendition of what will be walking down the aisle in the very near future.
The neutral palette was not the only red carpet trend. Fishtail silhouettes, intricate sleeves, peplums and a little leg were hard to miss as well. Classic glamour has not only made its way back to Hollywood, it’s making its way back to weddings.

Needless to say, there is no day like your wedding day! Your fiance waiting for you, your friends and family there to support you and the camera snapping away at every opportunity. It is tough enough to find the time to nosh never mind the necessary reapplication of the quintessential lips. Time to strategize and find the trick to long lasting lips that will carry you through a day of sips, smiles an kisses!
LIPS THAT LAST
- ONE
Use the layering technique. Apply your lipstick as you normally would, then lightly blot with tissue without rubbing the lipstick off or removing the color entirely. Then apply another full coat of lipstick.
- TWO
Apply lip liner the same shade as your lipstick over your entire lips, then apply a coat of lipstick over the layer of lip liner. Lip liner often lasts longer than lipstick, so you will have color for a longer period of time.
- THREE
Apply a mild, non-allergenic powder to your lips using a thin makeup brush, then apply a coat of lipstick over the powder. You can repeat the process once more for longer lasting color.
- FOUR
Keep your lips hydrated to extend the color of your lipstick. Drink plenty of water and eat

Oh the token lapel accessory… The Boutonniere! This pint size creation has a life all its own and is demanding more attention. As with the complimentary bridal bouquet, men’s accessories are embracing textures, fabrics and bobbles. Size, shape, color, texture and scent are all magnificent things to consider with when creating a piece that is as unique as the man you fell in love with!
I love my heels as much as the next girl but there comes a time (about the 10th hour) when you need to kick those babies off! Comfort needs to be worked into your wedding day but we don’t want to sacrifice style! Like everything else with your wedding, there are endless options here as well. I was feeling a little traditional and went for neutral selections that would grace any bride. I will play with more color soon enough!
After seeing some of these flats, I may just forego the heels all together!
